As people migrated to their designated part of the bordered land, they carried with them the most valuable items as little of them that could be transported. These are the only pieces that remain as testament to the history that have been donated by the families.
The lowering of the flags ceremony at the Attari Wagah border is a daily practice between the security forces of India and Pakistan. The drill is characterized by elaborate and rapid dancelike maneuvers and raising legs as high as possible, which have been described as “colorful”. It is alternatively a symbol of the two countries’ rivalry, as well as brotherhood and cooperation between the two nations.
