What to Expect When Visiting Bagdogra, West Bengal, India
This is a culturally immersive tour with the Bhutia, Limbu and indigenous Lepcha tribes of Sikkim. You get to experience the culture first hand as you stay with the local families.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Stop At: Kewzing, Kewzing, Sikkim
Drive from either Bagdogra airport or New Jalpaiguri railway station to South Sikkim in your private car. Keep your camera ready for those stunning views of the Teesta river. Your next few days are with the family from Bhutia community. Arrive by evening and spend rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Village Life Experience
Stop At: Kewzing, Kewzing, Sikkim
Go for a guided village walk where you can see plantations of corn, rice and cardamom. Know about the local herbs. Visit the Buddhist and Bon monasteries, and local artisans. Participate in a hands on cooking class in the evening, and learn a few tips about Sikkimese cuisine.

Day 3: Trek to Maenam La
Stop At: Maenam Hill, Ravangla India
This guided tour takes you through dense forest all the way up to Maenam Hill. Our guide tells you about the local folk tales, herbs and wildlife as you trek. Packed food is provided on this trek. Return to the village in afternoon or in the evening, and relax your muscles with a herbal bath. Duration of this trek depends upon your fitness level, and how far you want to go.

Day 4: Drive to West Sikkim
Stop At: Pelling, Pelling, West Sikkim, Sikkim
Depart for Pelling with a brief stop over at Temi tea gardens. Arrive in Pelling by noon. Your stay for next few days is with the family of Limbu tribe. Go for a guided village walk in evening. Watch the locals at work in their farms and stumble upon ancient burial grounds of Limbu tribe. Return to the homestay by evening, and spend rest of the time over bonfire.

Day 5: Tour of Pelling
Stop At: Pelling, Pelling, West Sikkim, Sikkim
Self tour of Rabdentse ruins and Pemayangtse monastery in your private car. Visit a local priest in evening.

Day 6: Tour of Yuksom and Khecheperi Lake
Stop At: Yuksom, Yuksom, West Sikkim, Sikkim
Guided/ self tour of Kanchanjunga waterfalls, Khecheperi Lake and Yuksom in your private car. Yuksom is the first capital of Sikkim, and still a sleepy town. Visit the Dubdi monastery and coronation throne of the king, and see the local life of Sikkim. Return to the homestay in evening.

Day 7: Departure

After breakfast, depart for Bagdogra or New Jaipaiguri for onward journey.
