Kalakshetra Foundation is an arts and cultural academy dedicated to the preservation of traditional values in Indian art and crafts, especially in the field of Bharatanatyam dance and Gandharvaveda music. Visitors are free to explore Kalakshetra campus on their own, can sit at the Banyan tree for morning prayer, visit to Instruments Cottage, Vishnu Statue, Tagore Hall, Padma Pushkarini, Dance, Music and Visual Arts Department, Ayyanar Shrine (Village Shrine) and the Crafts Education and Research Centre (CERC). also have a choice to purchase various handloom products like Kalamkari sarees, bed sheets, cushion covers. (Open time between 8.30 am to 4.00 pm Saturday and Sunday closed)

Stop At: Marundeeswarar Temple, Near Beach of Bay of Bangal, Chennai (Madras) India
Marundeeswarar Temple has been widely expanded by Chola kings during the 11th century in Dravidian architecture, It has two seven tiered gateway towers, a huge tank with the overall temple area covering 1 acre. Marundeeswarar Temple occupies an area of about 1 acre with numerous sculptures and statues and in pillars and the Gopuram (gateway towers), The mandapam (hall) housing the Somaskanda form of Shiva has 36 massive pillars adorned with carvings. (Open time 6 am – 12 noon and 4 pm – 9 pm)

Cholamandal Artists Village spread over ten acres of land, It showcasing painting, sketches, sculptures — of wood, metal, stone, terracotta, handicrafts, batik, pottery, ceramics, etc. in a permanent exhibition within the complex. At Cholamandal Artists Village walk through the sculpture garden installed with work of various material and KCS Paniker museum showcase personal contributions from artists of the ‘Madras Movement’. There are also two commercial galleries Labernum and Indigo, where art is displayed for sale. Apart from this, spend time browsing through the art book shop and the craft shop.
