City Palace was built by Sawai Jai Singh who headed the Kachwaha Rajput Clan and holds the credit of being the founder of Jaipur. The palace served as his residing throne and he started the construction of the palace way in the 17th century as he wanted to shift the capital of the state from Amber to Jaipur.

Raja Man Singh II was the last ruler of this dynasty to hold the throne in this palace. The beautiful structure was designed by architects Vidyadhar Bhattacharya and Samuel Swinton Jacob who brought a European influence to the design.

Jantar Mantar in Jaipur has captured the essence of many a wanderlust over the years. An open-air astronomical observatory, this UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the rare and timeless places of attraction in Jaipur, and the world.

With an illuminating history that predates modern civilization, this observatory was far ahead of its time and showcased the ancient ways of reading stars and skies.

The construction of the fort first began in 967 AD with Raja Man Singh I of the Meena dynasty, however, almost all the structures built by the Meenas were demolished before new construction began in the 16th century. The fort was constructed out of red sandstone and white marble which represents a blend of the Hindu elements along with a Mughal influence.

Another seeming example of this amalgamation can be seen on the wall engravings which include Mughal flower motifs along with images of Lord Krishna’s life and the depiction from Ramayana. The fort is divided into four levels, each with its own courtyard.
