Jal Mahal or Water Palace showcases the great Rajput style architecture and is located in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake. Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amer renovated and enlarged the lake and the palace around in the 18th century. It has a picturesque view from the Man Sagar Dam and the Nahargarh hills. The five-storied structure is built in red sandstone and has been one of the must-visit places in Jaipur because of its gorgeous view.

Known as the Palace of Winds” or “Palace of the Breeze” is situated in the center of the Jaipur city. Inspired by the unique structure of Khetri Mahal, Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh built this beautiful structure in 1799 with the intent to allow royal women to have a view of the daily activities on the streets without being seen. The 5 storied stunning semi-octagonal monument having 152 windows with overhanging latticed balconies is a fine piece of Rajput architecture.

Maharani ki Chhatri is basically a funeral area for the Royal ladies or Maharanis of Jaipur. These cenotaphs are artistically carved with beautiful royal chhatris. Each Chhatri is very beautifully carved and it clearly reflects the taste of the women in whose memory it has been constructed. Some of them are built with marble whereas some used local stone. Some of the Cenotaphs were unfinished here. The reason being that if the queen died before her king, only then her Cenotaph will be completed with the roof structure. But in opposite case, her Cenotaph will remain unfinished.

Patrika Gate is the ninth gate of Jaipur and the city planner had paid great attention to the number 9 in the city’s architecture. The number nine holds great significance in our traditions and beliefs such as the Nine Gates, Nine Planets, Navratra (Nine Nights) etc.

It is considered an auspicious number. The vibrant colors of the gate will amaze you out rightly by its brightness.
