Jaisalmer Trip Overview

The tour starts in the morning with pick up from your hotel and directly heading to the Jaisalmer Fort where your host will make you familiar with the city and the history of this fort and the royal family. the next destination Patwon ki Haveli – the clusters of 5 Havelis are also known as the “mansion of brocade merchants”
The next on the list is the Gadisar Lake. Surrounded by temples and shrines, it was constructed to solve the water issues in the city by the Maharaja. You can see the Tilon ki Pol and can enjoy a quick boat ride around the lake; the price for the boat ride is not included in the tour.
The Golden cenotaphs in Bada Bagh were built in the memory of Kings and Queens who once ruled Jaisalmer. You can see the beautiful Rajasthani architecture and learn about the kings and queen for whom these chhatris are dedicated to.
Once your day is completed exploring the beautiful Golden City, you will be dropped back to your hotel.

Stop At: Jaisalmer Fort, Fort Road, Jaisalmer 345001 India

Built by Rawal Jaisal in the year 1156 AD, Jaisalmer Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the group Hill Forts of Rajasthan. Visit the second oldest Fort also known as Sonar Quila or Sone ka Quila of Rajasthan in the morning with your guide who will share every bit of detail, significance and stories about the royal families. The fort has 99 bastions, from which 92 were built between 1633 and 1647. You will get to see Islamic and Rajput architecture here.

Stop At: Kothari’s Patwaon-Ki-Haveli, Near Patwa Complex, Patwa Haveli, Jaisalmer 345001 India

Patwa Haveli or Kothari’s Patwa Haveli is one of the most important Havelis of Jaisalmer. It was the first haveli and is not a single haveli but a cluster of 5 small Havelis. Belonged to a trader named Guman Chand Patwa, all these five houses were constructed in the first 60 years of the 19th century hence it is also known as the “mansion of brocade merchants”. It is now a museum featuring intricate carvings, furniture & artwork. The Archeological Survey of India and State art and craft department is situated in the haveli itself.

Stop At: Gadisar Lake, Postal Colony, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan 345001

After exploring the Fort and the Havelis, now proceed towards Gadisar Lake. This lake was first constructed by Raja Rawal Jaisal around 1400 AD and was later reconstructed by Maharawal Gadsi Singh, it is surrounded by many temples and shrines. It also has a desert cultural center and a museum that stores artifacts. The other attraction that you will see here is Tilon ki Pol, which is a 2-story yellow sandstone gateway with lattices & balconies. You can do boating here at an extra cost.

Stop At: Royal Cenotapshs, Bada Bagh cenotaphs, Bada Baugh Chhatris Rd, Rajasthan 345001, India

Golden Royal Cenotaphs of Bada Bagh which means big garden was constructed in the memory of many kings and queens, there are many chhatris and each is dedicated to them. From a distance, you can see some domes jutting out of the sand, dwarfed by the huge windmills all around them but when you get closer, you get a glimpse of beautiful Rajasthani architecture with its round tapering pillars and ornate arches.
