Stop At: Ajaygarh fort, V7Q9+RXP, Ajaigarh, Madhya Pradesh 488220, India

After morning pickup from your hotel lobby in Khajuraho, you’ll drive a distance of roughly 80 Kms to Ajaigarh via hills of Panna in the comfort of a private vehicle driven by personal chauffeur.

Ajaigarh Fort is listed among the top attractions of the region. It stands alone at an altitude of 1,111 meters on a flat-topped projection of the majestic Vindhya Hills in the district of Panna. It provides absolutely stunning views of the Ken River. This grand fort is noted for its rich historical past and architectural beauty, which speaks volumes about the Chandela dynasty.

There is plenty to explore at the fort, which makes it a treat for history and art lovers. You are advised to carry enough water & snacks for the journey. A flight of 560 plus steep stairs and further venturing inside the ruins takes good three to four hour with firm will and strong knees. Reminiscent of old times, this fort has two gates, two temples and two rock-cut tanks, close to the northern gate. These tanks have been named as Ganga and Yamuna. Other highlights of the fort are an old temple dedicated to the Chandela ruler, Raja Parmardi Deva and Jain temples that look similar to the Khajuraho Temples.

The fort houses several sculptures of Goddess Astha Shakti. The fort has a famous lake called Ajay Pal ka Talao within its boundary. Visitors often feel charmed by the beauty of the lake.

Your personal guide would be delighted to suggest you the place for lunch, available out of very limited options. Also enjoy the lovely country landscape of central India and make few photo stops for panoramic clicks if time permits while on drive. Return back to hotel lobby or Railway Station in Khajuraho with happy memories.
