Village Backwater Cruise in Country Boat and Village Industries.

Backwater Cruise in the Gondola ( Shikari Boat). They slowly slide down the waters propelled by motor/or punted using long bamboo poles. It is absolute silence around except for the calls of a myna or Koal bird. The boatsmen who will stop for a tender coconut water brought down by the coconut harvester or a toddy tapper demonstrate toddy tapping ( you can see him climbing the tree and tapping the sap that becomes Toddy after fermenting 12 hours in room temperature.)
After the back water cruise go to a village for watching women engaged in coir spinning and leaf weaving.
Later you will visit a cloth weaving centre if time allows where women weave cotton Saree on handlooms.
We will sit for lunch at a respectful family home/an elite vegetarian restaurent for savouring the “Sadya” the national food of Kerala.
After these experiences you will come back to Kochi for dropping back at your hotel.

Murinjapzha is a village with meandering backwaters studded with beautiful houses of all styles and fashions built by the non resident Keralites. amongst them we will aslo find tiny old fashioned houses of those still live in here.

Poothotta is sleepy village on the way to the backwater destination Vaikom and famous Vaikom Siva Temple.

Udayamperoor or Diamper is famous for the Synod of Roman Catholics held 1799 CE for making Catholic church to be brought under the Pope of Rome. The Diamper Synadal Church is on our way to the backwaters.

Vaikom Mahadeva Temple is held as a powerful place of Shiva. The belief is that if a devotee worships before the Ucha puja, all his/her wishes are fulfilled.
