The dabbawalas (also spelled dabbawallas or dabbawallahs, called tiffin wallahs in older sources) constitute a lunchbox delivery and return system that delivers hot lunches from homes and restaurants to people at work in India, especially in Mumbai. The lunchboxes are picked up in the late morning, delivered predominantly using bicycles and railway trains, and returned empty in the afternoon.

Dhobi Ghat (Mahalaxmi Dhobi Ghat) was an open air laundromat (lavoir) in Mumbai, India. The washers, known as dhobis, work in the open to clean clothes and linens from Mumbai’s hotels and hospitals. It was constructed in 1890.

Mani Bhavan was Gandhi’s Mumbai headquarters for about 17 years, from 1917 to 1934. The mansion belonged to Revashankar Jagjeevan Jhaveri, Gandhi’s friend and host in Mumbai during this period. It was from Mani Bhavan that Gandhi initiated the Non-Cooperation, Satyagraha, Swadeshi, Khadi and Khilafat Movements.

The Gardens, also known as Pherozeshah Mehta Gardens were first built in 1881. Designed by Ulhas Ghapokar, it is said to have been built over one of Bombay’s main water reservoir to protect it from getting polluted, particularly by the nearby towers of silence.

The Kamla Nehru Park is named after the wife of Jawaharlal Nehru, Kamla Nehru. It is one of the oldest parks in Mumbai. The shoe structure made in the park is inspired from the nursery rhyme; there was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe.

Often, the names Marine Drive and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road are used interchangeably to refer to this 3.6km stretch. The road and promenade were constructed by late philanthropist Bhagojisheth Keer and Pallonji Mistry. It is a ‘C’-shaped six-lane concrete road along the coast of a natural bay.

The monument was erected to commemorate the landing of King George V and Queen Mary at Apollo Bunder on their visit to India in 1911. Built in Indo-Saracenic style, the foundation stone for the Gateway of India was laid on 31 March 1911. The structure is an arch made of basalt, 26 metres (85 feet) high.

It was on August 14, 1862, the Bombay High Court was established under the Indian High Courts Act, 1861, enacted by the British Parliament. The functioning of the High Court commenced with 7 Judges, with Sir Mathew Richard Sausse as the first Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court from 1862 to 1866.
