He built the Shivlinga out sand and hence the Temple got it’s name as walkeshwar or valukaishwar means the sands of God. It is also famously known as the Banganga Temple.

It was built in 1904 and is dedicated to Lord Adishwar, the first of 24 Jain Tirthankaras. The edifice is very large and contains idols of Arihants and tableaux of scenes from Jain scriptures.

The shrine of Haji Ali Shah Bukhari is one of Mumbai’s most important Sufi shrines.
