Stop At: Gateway of India, Apollo Bandar, Colaba, Mumbai 400001 India

This colossal structure was constructed in 1924 and is located at the tip of Apollo Bunder, and overlooks the Mumbai harbour, bordered by the Arabian Sea.The Gateway of India was constructed to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay (Mumbai) facing the majestic Hotel Taj Mahal. It is also the departing point for ferries plying to Elephanta Island famed for the cave temple sculpted out of rocks and a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site.

Stop At: Mani Bhavan Gandhi Museum, 19 Laburnum Road Gamdevi, Mumbai 400007 India

It is the place which cannot be missed by any tourist, patriot and history buff who visits Mumbai. The building is under the ownership of Gandhi Smarak since 1955 and it became a worthy memorial to Mahatma Gandhi and all the facets of the Indian independence movement. Now, a memorial which houses a library, picture gallery and memorabilia, Mani Bhavan is a museum which is open between 9. 30 am and 6 pm. Mani Bhavan was the focal point of the political activities of Mahatma Gandhi during the years 1917 and 1934. It witnessed the four-day fast conducted by Mahatma Gandhi back in 1921, to restore peace in Mumbai. It was in Mani Bhavan that Gandhiji started his association with the ‘charkha’ or spinning wheel. The initiations of noted agitations like the Civil Disobedience, Satyagraha, Swadeshi, Khadi and Khilafat movements took place in this historical building. Mani Bhavan takes us back to the political struggles.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus- CSMT formerly known as Victoria Terminus in Mumbai is the city’s most exuberant Gothic building. A magnificent and huge structure, it was completed in 1887, and was named after Queen Victoria. Its remarkable stone dome, turrets, pointed arches are akin to traditional Indian palace architecture. It is now a designated World Heritage Site. The CSMT is the originating and terminating station for hundreds of express and suburban trains, in which around 30 Lakh people commute daily.
