What makes Day Trip to The Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Mehtab Bagh from Delhi a unique experience ?

Following a 6:30am pickup from a hotel in Delhi, travel three hours to Agra via the Yamuna Express Highway.

Arrive in Agra, meet the tour guide, and head out for some sightseeing. Visit the famous Taj Mahal, A UNESCO World Heritage Site. No trip to Agra would be complete without a visit to this shimmering vision of domes and minarets. The world’s best-known tomb stands testimony to the timeless love story of the 17th-century Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan, and his wife, Queen Mumtaz Mahal. (Note: the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays)

Next we visit another UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Agra Fort. Built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 AD, this huge fort is made of red sandstone. The elegant buildings inside reflect an interesting synthesis of Hindu and Central Asian architectural styles. The maze of the courtyards, mosques, and private chambers of the fort echo the story of the Mughal Empire.

Take a lunch break provided at the best local restaurant.

After lunch, enjoy a photo tour of the Taj Mahal from Mehtab Bagh, also known as the Moonlight Garden. The garden is believed to have been designed by Shah Jahan to view the Taj on moonlit nights, far away from the maddening crowd. The garden complex is situated on the left bank of Yamuna opposite the Taj Mahal. It is a huge square measuring approximately 300×300 meters and in straight alignment with the Taj Mahal. The forestry plantations and agricultural fields provide a green forecourt to Taj Mahal and its reflection in Yamuna.

Enjoy some shopping in Agra, which is known for its fabulous handicrafts made of marble and softstone inlay work. The Mughals were great patrons of arts and crafts. Empress Nur Jahan took personal interest and was an accomplished artist herself in zari embroidery work. Agra’s major handicraft products, besides inlay work, include leatherware, brassware, carpets, jewelry, and embroidery work.

After a memorable day, travel back to New Delhi with a hotel or airport drop-off.
