Day 2: Delhi sight Seen

When the capital shifted from Agra to Delhi, Shah Jahan constructed Red Fort in 1939 it was the main residence of the Mughal Dynasty and is located in the city center. It is made from red sandstone and that is where it gets its name from. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007.

Qutub Minar is a five-story tapering tower with a height of 73 meters. The spiral staircase in this minaret has 379 staircases. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and visited by many every day.

India Gate India Gate is a war memorial located near the Rajpath. It is dedicated to the soldiers of British India who died in the wars. The India Gate, even though a war memorial, evokes the architectural style.

One of the largest mosques in the country, Jama Masjid is made up of red sandstone and marble. It was constructed by Shah Jahan and is visited by hundreds of people every day. The courtyard of the mosque can accommodate about 25,000 people and was built for about one million Indian Rupees.

Stop At: Hawa Mahal – Palace of Wind, Hawa Mahal Tripolia Bazaar Road Badi Choupad, J.D.A. Market, Pink City, Jaipur 302002 India
Hawa Mahal also known as The Palace of Winds is made with the red and pink sandstones which makes it distinguished from the surroundings. The palace is a five-storey pyramidal shaped monument and was built by Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799. After the visit to Hawa Mahal, return to your hotel.

A shopper’s paradise and a must-visit, Johari Bazaar in Jaipur has a reputation that precedes itself. It is considered to be one of the oldest markets of Jaipur City.

Day 4: Jaipur Sight Seen

In the morning, visit Amber Fort situated on the top of the hill. Amber Fort was built by Raja Man Singh I. It is known for its artistic elements. The Maota Lake located in front of the monument acts as a source of water for the fort.

Jantar Mantar is a UNESCO World Heritage site built in 1734. It is a collection of nineteen architectural astronomical instruments built by the Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur. The instruments allow the observation of astronomical positions with the naked eye.

Spend one hour to explore Maharaja’s City Palace. City Palace of Jaipur was originally the administrative and ceremonial seat of Maharaja of Jaipur which was constructed in 1721. It was also the location of religious and cultural events that took place at that time. It now houses the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum, and continues to be the home of the Jaipur royal family.

The building of Albert Hall Museum was built in 1876 as a concert hall. The museum gets its name from the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, because of the similarity of architecture. The foundation for the building started in 1876, when Prince of Wales visited Jaipur. When the building was constructed, the royals and government did not have any idea about usage of the building. It was initially used as Town Hall in 1880. Later, the King of Jaipur, Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh II suggested using it as a museum for Industrial Arts. Later, the hall was used for displaying masterpieces of local artisans.
In 1881, the museum was at its prime beauty and people from across the country visited this museum to buy or enjoy handicrafts, artwork and other masterpieces. However, the building was under construction until 1887. Later, the museum started to showcase artifacts and ancient artworks along with budding artist’s masterpieces.

Day 5: Jaipur To Agra (240 KM/5 Hrs) En route see the Chand Baori & Fatehpur Sikri.

Chand Baori was built during the 8th and 9th centuries and has 3,500 narrow steps arranged in perfect symmetry, which descend 20m to the bottom of the well.

Fatehpur Sikri is a small city in northern India, just west of Agra, founded by a 16th-century Mughal emperor. Red sandstone buildings cluster at its center. Buland Darwaza gate is the entrance to Jama Masjid mosque. Nearby is the marble Tomb of Salim Chishti. Diwan-E-Khas hall has a carved central pillar. Jodha Bais Palace is a mix of Hindu and Mughal styles.

Day 6: Agra To Jhansi (By Train)

After Breakfast, Agra Fort is a historical fort in the city of Agra in India. It was the main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty until 1638, when the capital was shifted from Agra to Delhi. Before capture by the British, the last Indian rulers to have occupied it were the Marathas.

Day 7: Orchha To Khajuraho (190 KM/ 3Hrs) En route see the Orchha Fort
Stop At: Orchha Fort, Orchha India
The Orchha Fort complex, which houses a large number of ancient monuments consisting of the fort, palaces, temple, and other edifices, is located in the Orchha town in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The fort and other structures within it were built by the Bundela Rajputs starting from the early 16th century by King Rudra Pratap Singh of the Orchha State and others who followed him.
The fort complex, which is accessed from an arched causeway, leads to a large gateway. This is followed by a large quadrangular open yard surrounded by palaces. These are Raja Mahal or Raja Mandir, Sheesh Mahal, Jahangir Mahal, a temple, gardens and pavilions. The battlements of the fort have ornamentation. Notable architectural features in the fort complex are projecting balconies, open flat areas and decorated latticed windows.

Best known for its rich historical charm, Khajuraho shades some of the best, most ancient temples in the world! Essentially a group of Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist temples, the Khajuraho Group of Monuments enjoy fame for stunning nagara-style architecture and erotic sculptures that grace the temples.
Origins of some temples dating as back as to the 9th and 10th centuries, they’ve seen the rise and fall of several kingdoms, including the Chandela dynasty. Visiting the temples is decidedly one of the most popular things to do in Khajuraho.

The lively atmosphere of the Dasaswamedh Ghat makes it one of the best places to visit in Varanasi. This tourist attraction is a swirling hodgepodge of flower sellers touting bright blossoms, boat operators hawking rides along the Ganges River, and sadhus (holy men) with face paint. You can spend hours people watching in this area during the day.

There are few destinations in India without a fort, and Varanasi is no exception. About 14 kilometers from the city center, you’ll find Ramnagar Fort. The 18th-century sandstone fort and palace is no longer used as a defensive structure, but instead houses a quirky museum brimming with vintage automobiles, elaborate hookahs, antique weapons, sedan chairs decked out in jewels, and a one-of-a-kind astronomical clock that’s more than 150 years old.

Hinduism certainly has a stronghold on Varanasi, but Buddhism has a major presence less than 12 kilometers away in the village of Sarnath. Here, you’ll find the Dhamek Stupa, a massive stone and brick structure that’s 43.6 meters tall and 28 meters in diameter. The stupa was built more than 1,500 years ago as a replacement for a structure that dated back to 249 BCE.

Plumes of smoke swirl toward the sky at Manikarnika Ghat. No, it’s not from a factory — it’s from the perpetual cremations that happen on this ghat. Hindus believe that Manikarnika Ghat is one of the most auspicious places for the departed to reach moksha (emancipation from the cycle of spiritual rebirth). The funeral pyre at this ghat burns 24/7, and around 100 cremations take place every day.
Priests or guides frequently offer to lead tourists through the fascinating ghat, however some can be aggressive in their demands for money. You may see doms (members of an untouchable caste) carrying cloth-wrapped bodies on makeshift stretchers, along with piles of firewood stacked up, ready to feed the pyre.
