What to Expect When Visiting New Delhi, Delhi, India

Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi Arrive + City Tour

Stop At: Qutub Minar, Qutb Minar, Mehrauli, New Delhi 110030 India
After pick-up  at 9am from the airport or your hotel in New Delhi, proceed on a sightseeing tour in New Delhi. In New Delhi we visit the 11th century Qutab Minar Tower, built by Qutub-ud-din Aibek of the Slave Dynasty, who took possession of Delhi in 1206. It is a red sandstone tower, standing tall at a height of 72.5 metres and is covered with intricate carvings and verses from the holy Qur’an.

Stop At: India Gate, Rajpath Near Connaught Place New Delhi, New Delhi 110001 India
The India Gate, a memorial raised in honor of pays tribute to around 90,000 Indian army soldiers who died in WWI, the Northwest Frontier operations and the 1919 Anglo-Afghan War.
Duration: 30 minutes

Pass By: Parliament House, Sansad Marg, New Delhi 110002 India
Parliament House also known as the Sansad Bhavan consists of the the two houses/assemblies of India, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and drive past the grand government buildings, including the President’s House and Parliament House all dating back to the time of the British Raj.

Day 2: Delhi to Agra by Train and 4-Hrs drive to Jaipur

Stop At: New Delhi Railway Station Gate 2, Ajmeri Gate, Delhi, 110002, India
You’ll start your day early, around 5am, with a transfer to the New Delhi Railway Station for a 6pm departure to Agra. Breakfast will be served on board during your 2-hr journey, so you have plenty of time to enjoy the countryside.

Stop At: Taj Mahal, Dharmapuri, Forest Colony, Tajganj, Agra 282001 India
When you arrive at Agra, you will be met by your driver at the main exit gate (look for the person holding your name signage). From there you’ll transfer to your hotel for a quick refresh, and also to meet your tour guide in the hotel lobby. Next, travel to visit the Taj Mahal (A UNESCO World Heritage site). This is the world’s best-known tomb, and stands testimony to the timeless love story of the 17th century Mughal Emperor, Shah Jahan and his queen Mumtaz Mahal (closed Fridays).

Stop At: Agra Fort Rakabgani, Agra 282003 India
After your visit, you’ll transfer to another UNESCO World Heritage site, Agra Fort. Built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 A.D., this huge fort is made of red sandstone and stands as a sister monument to the Taj Mahal.

Stop At: Agra, Agra, Agra District, Uttar Pradesh
After lunch (own expense), you’ll start your journey to Jaipur. Founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II, this ‘pink city’ is meticulously constructed on the lines of the Shilpa – Shastra, an ancient Hindu treatise on architecture.

Stop At: Fatehpur Sikri, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra District, Uttar Pradesh
En-route to Jaipur, you’ll visit Fatehpur Sikri (own expense), which has been described as ‘the world’s most perfectly preserved ghost town.

Day 3: Jaipur City Tour and return 4-Hrs drive to New Delhi

Stop At: Amber Palace, Devisinghpura, Amer, Jaipur 302001 India
Meet your guide at your Jaipur hotel in Jaipur at approximately 8am. Begin the tour by visiting the Amber Fort. The Amber Fort is situated on a ridge just outside Jaipur City and is beautifully reflected in the lake below. Inside the fort, you will encounter the world-renowned Jai Mandir temple with its dazzling Sheesh Mahal hall of mirrors. The walls and the ceiling of the Mahal are covered with a beautiful array of mirrors, which reflect any streak of light, illuminating the entire room.

Stop At: Jal Mahal, Amer Road, Jaipur 302002 India
Continue the tour by making a photo stop at Jal Mahal around 11am. This Rajput style “Water Palace” sits in the center of the Man Sarobar lake. The lake is often dry during the summer, but the winter monsoons frequently turn it into a beautiful lake filled with water hyacinths.

Stop At: Hawa Mahal – Palace of Wind, Hawa Mahal Tripolia Bazaar Road Badi Choupad, J.D.A. Market, Pink City, Jaipur 302002 India
Next, you will visit the Hawa Mahal, another Rajput landmark also known as the Palace of the Winds, for more photo opportunities. The five story Hawa Mahal was built in 1799A.D. along the main street of the old city. It is a pink sandstone masterpiece with semi-octagonal and delicately honeycombed windows.

Stop At: City Palace of Jaipur, Tripolia Bazar Near Jantar Mantar, Jaipur 3023002 India
You will visit the City Palace and Ovservetory which is located in the heart of the old city. Once the royal residence of the King of Jaipur, the palace was built using a blend of Rajasthani and Mughal styles. It features carved arches, intricately crafted columns and two carved marble elephants that guard the entrance.

Stop At: Carpet And Textile House, Kanwar Nagar, J.D.A. Market, Pink City, Jaipur 302002 India
Time permit, shopping in Jaipur where you will find an enticing variety of goods. Some of the most popular items include precious gemstones, silver jewelry, bangles, clothes, blue pottery, and textiles.

After the memorable day in Jaipur, it’ll be time to transfer back to Delhi with a drop-off at the airport or your hotel in the city.
