What to Expect When Visiting Pune, Maharashtra, India

Get to interact with a local family over a safe and hygienic home-made meal and cooking class. Experience India’s culture and diversity by interacting with like-minded people over authentic food only found in the homes of people.

Sindhi cuisine is the local cuisine of the community having their roots in Sindh, Pakistan. A typical Sindhi meal consists of rice, wheat-based flatbread, a gravy dish and a dry preparation. Onions and tomatoes tend to feature in most food preparations while a meal without the iconic Sindhi Papad would perhaps be considered incomplete.

Our home-chef is all set to share some of the best-known dishes of her community which are simple and easy to cook. You will learn a starter, a main dish, Indian bread and a dessert. Feel free to ask any questions about cooking and use of spices! Through this cook and dine experience, I will bring out the flavours of of her community’s cuisine through the meal

The entire experience will last around 2-3 hours.

Please note – This is not a professional cooking class but rather an opportunity to cook and dine with a local home-chef. The experience will be as much about the stories around the food and local culture, as it would be about the meal itself.

• PAKODA WITH GREEN CHUTNEY – Fritters served with mint and coriander chutney
• SINDHI CURRY AND RICE WITH ALOO TUK AND MEETHA BOONDI – Authentic Sindhi curry served with rice and fried potato and sweet gram flour balls
• BHEE PATATA – Lotus stem and potato cooked in an onion and tomato gravy
• PHULKA – Authentic Sindhi-style bread
• SWEET POTATO IN SUGAR SYRUP / SABUDANA KHIRNI – Sweet potatoes are caramelized with cinnamon while in Sabudana Khirni, sago seeds cooked in milk with cardamom and saffron.
