Itinerary

Day 1: Maratha Patronage in its Capital: The Craft and Architecture of Pune

Stop At: Vishram Bagh Waada Palace, Sadashiv Peth, Pune India
The Marathas were warriors as much they were patrons of everything arts, craft, heritage and culture.

The seat of the Marathas, Pune can be brought to life through a fascinating account of anecdotal stories, history of the place, its people, its architecture to hear stories of how it has evolved or has stood still in time over the years.

ImmerseGo would be taking you on a trip down memory lane or “history-lane” to show you the Wadas of Pune by one of the best historians and history authors of Pune or as we call him “Pune’s Secret Keeper”.
The walk would be in the Old Town of Pune unearthing facts, stories and mysteries of its traditional houses, Wadas and the Maharashtrian culture that evolved over the period. It would also include a walk to the printing press that was used by Tilak during the Indian Freedom Struggle.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Tulshibaug, Budhwar Peth, Pune, Maharashtra, India
After having explored the Wadas of Pune, we will explore the by-lanes of the Coppersmiths cluster. As you walk past the cluster or engage with a coppersmith, you would hear the symphony of beating the copper vessel to perfection by all the coppersmiths in unison.
The music, the rhythm reminds you of the toil behind each vessel and the colour reminds you of the beauty that is the fruit of hard work.

As we visit this craft cluster, we will have history and ethonographic walk, artist engagements and of course some time for shopping!!!

These walks we call “Impact Walks” as we would be supporting the last generation of coppersmiths using traditional craftsmanship. Through our walks, it is our endeavour to bring the “honour” back to hand-work as many artisans feel more than income there is lack of honour.

Let us come together to support these artisans, who build masterpieces for luxury hotels, plush offices with their magical hands.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum, 1377-78, Natu Baug, Pune 411002 India
Do you remember the Bollywood hit Bajirao Mastani? What an epic movie it was! Though everything in the movie may not be true representation of the Maratha way of life, warfare but you get some perspective, nonetheless!

Mastani’s character caught our attention. Annndd what if we tell you that we would take you to her house!! Yes, you heard it right!

We were excited to see her house, which has been carefully preserved and we cannot wait to take you around.
