Stop At: Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India

This is a walk which covers both the southern as well as the northern part of the Heritage city of Varanasi.

The walk begins from southern most embankment of the Ganga River, passing through, holy Ponds, sacred temples, on to the landscape of mystical 16th Century Poet Goswami Tulsidas, who is the re-teller of the holy Hindu epic RAMAYAN. We will make a visit to a sacred well, the water from this well is believed to possess the powers to treat infertility.

The walk continues through the courtyards of Muslim silk weavers, who have been hand-weaving, the beautiful and intricately designed Silk Saris/Scarves since centuries in their ancestral houses. We continue our walk on to the Bengali Tola, a suburb of Bengali community, leading you on to see some of the very unique features of the life of Varanasi.

Showing you the spiritual bathing site of Dassaswamedh, our walk will take you to the northern part through narrow and puzzling Alley Ways, where most of the tourist get confused to make their way through. We feel that the best way to see these Alley Ways is to go and get lost in to them. We will take you through the city of Light, the cosmic center of Kashi (spiritual name of Varanasi), the Lord Vishwanath Temple (Golden Temple) which is believed to hold the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas (Sacred Light of Life) of the universe. Winding through the fascinating, colorful and buzzing markets and shops, you will visit Manikarnika Ghat, known as MAHASHAMSAN, where the funeral fire continues throughout the 24 hours, and makes it a place to learn about the life and death and as to why even the death is celebrated in Varanasi. Here you will come to understand the philosophy of Varanasi and its contribution to the Indian spiritual life. In the end, you will visit the old magnificent Mosque on the river side, which was built by the Mughals.

The walk takes approx 5 hours and can be taken up anytime between 8.00 to 16.00 hrs. If you have any specific time preferences we will try our best to adjust the walk as per your specific time requirements. The cost, including pick up from your hotel, is INR 2000 per person (1-2 persons), INR 1800 per person (3-4 persons) and INR 1600 per person ( 5 or more persons). You will need to carry your Passport for the entry in to the Golden Temple. This walk also includes 2-3 stop overs for some rest, and complimentary Tea/Coffee, Lassi, Sweets and Snacks break.
