You will be met at your hotel in Varanasi by your English speaking guide and escorted in a private, air conditioned vehicle to Sarnath (approx. 5 miles).

Sarnath derives its name from Sarangnath or the Deer God. The deer park at Sarnath is the place where Buddha gave his first sermon. Today, the deer park is a huge enclosure made for the deer to roam around freely. It is a wonderful place for those who are seeking solitude and peace. On this excursion, you will also visit to the oldest museum of Archaeological Survey of India, India’s government agency responsible for archaeological research. You can see one of the surviving Ashoka Pillars in Sarnath. You will also see many Stupas, or shrines, and Mulagandha Kuti Vihar, a Tibetan Buddhist shrine which contains a life-size golden image of the Buddha and colorful murals and frescoes painted by a Japanese artist.
