Itinerary

Day 1: Insights Northern & southern part of Kashi

Stop At: Dasaswamedh Ghat Road Bangali Tola, Varanasi 221001 India
We propose a tour of the most emblematic places in the north and south of the old city and the new city. I will be your host, guide and friend to make sure you get the conditions to make your best shots while enjoying the magic of Varanasi, the stories and tales, known and unknown places, that don’t appear in the guides. We will begin this exciting tour along the banks of the Ganges River, witnessing local life and the vibrant activity that takes place daily on the ghats from early in the morning. I will take you to the best places from where you can photograph the bustling activity, full of colour and tradition, in the ghats: pilgrims and locals taking the holy bath, praying, doing ceremony, doing laundry. Shadus, Babas … A gift for the senses!

Stop At: Manikarnika Ghat, Ghasi Tola Road, Varanasi 221001 India
We will go to the burning ghat too, where death is celebrated. Photography here is not allowed since rituals are sacred to Hindus but I will help you to access to a good place from where to observe and take the best photos.
From there, we will head to the old town to discover the small and colourful alleys in the centre, the historical palaces, the sacred temples, the traditional ashrams, the bazaar and the local markets … And to all those places that have interest in photographing!

Stop At: Banaras Ghats, Varanasi 221002 India
Time for lunch! it’s time to regain strength after a long walk… I will recommend you a good place for taste a yummy Indian meal or for drinking the best lassi of the city. When your stomach gets happy I will bring you on our next stop: A boat ride on sunset. Light and ghats at that hour are a dream, you will enjoy witnessing local life and photographing the historical palaces and temples on the banks of the river under the magical light as evening falls. A gorgeous experience for your senses is waiting for you!

We will finish the day with one of the most spectacular sights in Varanasi: The Ganga Aarti Ceremony. This is a godly spiritual ritual on the banks of the Ganges River. There, Hindu priests performer a beautiful and sacred ritual in honor of Mother Ganges, accompanied by songs of praise and surrounded by thousands of pilgrims who come from far every evening in order to get the Goddess’s blessing who its believed that pours on each individual present there when the ritual is completed. I willI help you to access to the best places from where observing and taking amazing photos.

Day 2: Sunrise Boat Tour & Local Village

Stop At: Banaras Ghats, Varanasi 221002 India
After picking you up from your hotel and before dawn rise, we will start our boat ride from Varanasi’s main and busiest ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat. From the boat you will enjoy a magical sunrise over the Ganges. You will feel overwhelmed by the beauty of the sunrise and the magic light that bathes the historical palaces and temples on the banks of the river as well. For sure you will enjoy photographing the vibrant activity on the ghats. Also you can observe and photographing from the water the sacred rituals around death that take place in Manikarnika Ghat, the principal crematorium. Life &death, tradition & local culture…

Stop At: Banaras Ghats, Varanasi 221002 India
After a short nap at your hotel, I will pick you up again and we will continue with the last part of the tour: A local village. Let’s find a breather in a quiet place! They say that the heart of India lies in its villages, so we will explore this area looking for some heartbeats of traditional and slow life, outside the noisy and busy city of Varanasi. On the other side of the river or a few kilometres outside the city, between cereal fields, orchards and farms, you will be able to get to know up close and photograph the life of frank and open people who will welcome you always with a big smile. You will live memorable hours in a natural environment, with fresh air and nature around you, and you will get, for sure, magnificent photos.
